- Battery Storage and Power Conversion, Designed to Work Together
The series separates battery storage and power conversion into two coordinated units. The WS-L5000-BC-2 stores energy in a liquid-cooled LiFePO4 battery container, while the WS-MV5000-2 integrates PCS and medium-voltage step-up transformation. This architecture supports configurable energy storage blocks for larger generation-side and grid-side installations.
- 5.016 MWh in a 20-Foot Battery Container
Each WS-L5000-BC-2 provides 5,016 kWh of nominal energy using 314 Ah LiFePO4 cells. The battery operates at a nominal DC voltage of 1,331.2 V, with a voltage range of 1,144–1,497.6 V and a specified charge/discharge rate of 0.5P.
The container supports side-by-side and back-to-back installation arrangements, giving project designers flexibility when planning the site layout.
- Integrated PCS and Medium-Voltage Transformation
The WS-MV5000-2 combines two 2,500 kVA PCS sections with a 5,200 kVA oil-immersed transformer. Four DC inputs accommodate connections from the battery system, while the transformer steps up the 690 V AC output to the project’s specified medium-voltage level.
The PCS features a maximum conversion efficiency of 99%, with an average efficiency of at least 98.3% listed in the technical specifications. Both units use a 20-foot format to simplify transport and site planning.
- Configure Storage Duration Around the Application
The series supports 2-hour and 4-hour configurations by coordinating battery capacity with conversion power. Multiple units can be deployed to build larger energy storage installations. The brochure’s typical 4-hour layout connects four battery systems to the conversion and step-up system.
- Support Grid Operation
The WS-MV5000-2 supports 50 Hz and 60 Hz grids and includes PQ, VF, VSG and SVG functions. Primary frequency regulation, inertial support, and low- and high-voltage ride-through capabilities support generation-side and grid-side applications.
Ring-network configuration and redundant load power supply support provide additional flexibility for project electrical design.
- Thermal Management and Protective Systems
The battery container uses liquid cooling, with bidirectional shut-off valves in the cooling circuit and a waste-liquid collection device. Aerosol and water fire suppression are specified for the battery system.
The conversion unit includes overcurrent and circuit protection, dual fire detection and independent heat dissipation across multiple compartments. Its PCS has an IP65 protection rating, while other sections are rated IP54.
- Monitor Performance Across the Site
Cloud connectivity supports AI-powered load optimization and 24/7 remote monitoring and maintenance. Real-time battery health and safety alerts help operators identify conditions requiring attention. Ethernet/CAN connectivity on the battery container and RS485/Ethernet/CAN interfaces on the conversion unit support integration with site monitoring and control systems.
